The area is the beach area and the shallow waters up to 3 meters deep.
It also includes the reef "Black", between Falsterbo Canal in the east and the border of the nature reserve "Skanör's Ljung" in the west as well as the forest area between road 100 and the old railway embankment west of Ljunghusen.
In total, the area is 185 ha, of which 22 ha are rural areas.
The area has high botanical, zoological and cultural historical values. The water area is also within an internationally valuable wetland area.
