Every year, this Viking village arranges a new Battle of Foteviken. Falsterbo was once together with Skanör one of the largest cities in the Nordic region. Today it has been significantly reduced, but there are still half-timbered houses and the paved streets. Since the late 19th century, Falsterbo is one of the classic seaside resorts and the mile-long beach together with other towns in Vellinge Municipality offers Sweden's best bath.

Falsterbo Strandbad is an architectural gem nestled in a pine forest just a few steps from the beautiful Falsterbo beach. An event building with Art Hall, Naturum, Vellinge Tourist Center and restaurant. In addition, it is easy to park all year round.

Falsterbo beach

One of Sweden's 8 best beaches in 2017. Another 2 is located in Vellinge Municipality, which means that 3 of Sweden's 8 best beaches are found here. Falsterbo beach offers kilometers of white soft beach. Best parking is available at Falsterbo Strandbad.


The nature reserve Måkläppen is a bird and seal paradise in world class. An "island" that constantly changes its shape and size. November 1st to January 31st you can enter the nature reserve. For the rest of the year you can go straight to the "border" at Falsterbo Golf Course where you have a splendid view. The easiest way to find here is if you go through Falsterbo Lighthouse.

Falsterbo Birdstation

Here, birdwatchers meet from Scania and the rest of the world. The migratory birds pass here daily in 100,000s from the end of August to October. The record one and the same day is over 1,5 million! When you want to go bird watching in a group, the gathering place is at Falsterbo Lighthouse.

Falsterbo Lighthouse

Here is Sweden's oldest lighthouse dating back to the 1230s when the Danish king Valdemar Sejr sent a letter of privilege, including the text "Love of all merchants, that you make a clear mark in Falsterbo, to avoid danger to the sailors" . 1635 built a vippefyr, a construction with a metal basket that was fired with coal. The basket is lifted up and down with a lever up to six times per hour to be filled with coal.

Today's lighthouse was ready in 1795. Until 1843 the "signal" was burned with coal, after which the tower was equipped with lenses that were illuminated with oil. In 1936, it became electric, 1972 it was automated and in 1990 the lighthouse was shut down. Today, the lighthouse keeper's residence is a museum
