Östra Grevie (East Grevie)

East Grevie is the most handsome of villages throughout Southern Plains (Söderslätt), situated on road 101. Abbout 650 people live here, and the main town of Vellinge is 7 kilometers away and Malmö and Trelleborg is near.

A village with a long history from the Stone Age through Bronze Age , Iron Age to the Viking Age. As late as 2015, excavations were made with lots of archaeological finds. That same year, the train returned to the village and now you can easily reach the rest of the world. Straight through the village, an Old Country Road goes which is praised in old Swedish songs.

East Grevie Station
From here you will reach Trelleborg in a few minutes. Some call the train the “Orien Express" as it goes to multi-cultural Malmo. The platform is 280 meters long with two tracks. Shuttle and bicycle parking and special accessibility for disabled people are available. In less than an hour you can be in the middle of central Copenhagen at the Central Station.

The old castle Manstorp's Gables …
.. was built in 1540-1547 when the Danes ruled East Grevie. And of course, there was no doubt that the castle would be located on East Grevie , the Governor in the 16th century Mr. Eske Bille was known for his good taste. Today, the castle of Manstorp is a ruin but worth a visit. In the summer there are also concerts

East Grevie Church was consecrated in 1897 ...
...but already in the 12th century there was a Romanesque church here. First time East Grevie is mentioned in writing is in a deed from 1228 in which a donated estate lies in "the Graefhöhae Orientali" where "Orientali" stands for the east. The baptismal font of the 18th century is a wood sculpture representing John the Baptist.

Bolmers Heights , our own heavenly mountains in the west…
...are burial mounds from the Bronze Age, which offers a unique view of the plain but also the Oresund Bridge and the cities Malmo and Trelleborg. In the winter, the years we have some snow, it is also a really sled eldorado.

Pub "Moses i Vassen"
A parish home, once a week, on Wednesdays, turns into a pub. To really emphasize that this house belongs to the church is the name "Pub Mose in the Reed". The “village board" meets here occasionally, sometimes there are also arranged art exhibitions.

East Grevie Folk High School...
... one of Sweden's largest folk high schools was opened in 1914. The school is located in a beautiful park and in addition to classrooms there are also studios, libraries, restaurants, conference centers and housing. Among the courses are art and design, and teacher and police preparatory courses.

East Grevie Fire Department
Although the official name is the Rescue Service in Eastern Grevie, it is called Easte Grevie Fire Department. The village has its own fire station with several cars. These are manned by part-time fighters who, in five minutes after the alarm, has to be dressed and ready to go in the cars.

East Grevie Village Board
The Village Board is working pro bono to create community spirit in the village and work for the development of joint projects. Examples are "Neighbors Against Crimes" as well as planning for an outdoor training facility. During the year, a dozen activities is organized and the popular "Byabladet" is released! We assume that all East Grevie households are members in this non-profit association.
