Falsterbo Canal - an eldorado

Today the 1600 meter long Falsterbokanalen is a popular marina which lies between Höllviken and Ljunghusen. The perfect stop for all boaters with full service; . Toilets, showers, sauna, clubhouse and environmental station. There is a restaurant directly connected to the harbor. But even for car-born visitors, from here you can wander from Öresund to the Baltic Sea.

Among other things, all of the guests can borrow bicycles for free, one of Sweden's best beaches is right next to the canal. And if you are both a sailor and a golfer, there are good golf courses nearby.

It is thanks to the Germans that this channel was built. They began mining at the Swedish territorial water limit in 1939, which meant that Swedish merchant ships could not enter the Baltic Sea without risk. After 3 weeks of investigation, the Swedish Parliament decided to build the canal and 1st of August 1941 the first vessel passed.

Höllviksbron (Höllviken bridge) which passes the canal is openable for larger sailboats to pass. It has a sail-free height of 3.9 meters and the maximum depth is 4 meters. April 15th - September 30th, it opens every whole hour between 06.00-22.00, except at 08.00 and 17.00.
